Configure wsFTP
Using wsFTP

After downloading wsFTP you will need to install it by double clicking the wsFTP.exe file.
Configure wsFTP

Usually this window appears when you open the program. If it does not click on the "CONNECT" button found on the menu bar at the bottom of the wsFTP screen.

When you connect to a domain a session is created. There are a variety of session profiles already contained in the drop down box labeled "Profile Name.

Click on the "NEW" button under the "Profile Name" box. Then type in the name you want to call the new session. Name it something meaningful, such as, "My Faculty Office".

Type in the FTP address of the site you want to connect with into the "Host Name" address box.

Leave the "Host Type" box set to "automatic detect."

Enter your username in the "USER ID" box and your password in the "Password" box.

To save your configuration click on the "SAVE" button just under the "Profile Name" box. To connect to the site click on the "OK" button .


Using wsFTP

After connecting this window will appear.

The FTP window is divided into two sections. your computer is the "Local System" on the left side, see #1 in image above.

The remote computer or server will be under "Remote System" on the right. Under "Local System" the first drop down box will display the current path. And below that, the larger box will show the folders, files and drives on your computer at that path location.

The "Remote System" will display the same for the remote computer or server you are connected to, see #2 above.

Transferring Files

Transferring files from the Remote System to the Local System is called downloading. Transferring files from the Local System to the Remote System is called uploading. Before transferring files make sure that the paths are correct on both sides.

Upload Files

Select the name of the file(s) on the Local System (left side) that you want to upload. Then click on the arrow pointing from the left to the right, see #3 above. Downloading will start. Then you will then see the file in the right side under "Remote System."

Download Files

Select the name of the file(s) on the Remote System that you want to download. Then click on the arrow pointing from the right to the left. Then you will then see the file in the right side under "Local System."
