GETTING STARTEDLogin to Blackboard/Vista
If you haven't done so already, you need to obtain your username for Vista (the software system that runs our online courses) so that you can access the course.
Go to the e-College homepage at http://ecollege.lonestar.edu and follow the link 'Go To Class'. Please remember to change your password from the one that was originally issued to you, as there have been cases of identity theft.
If you have any trouble, call the Distance Learning HelpDesk at any of these phone numbers 832.813.6700; 936.273.7600; or 281.765.7765. As well, feel free to email me if you need more help.
Textbooks
The required book(s) for the courses are listed in the course-description pages in this site. The Kingwood Bookstore (281-312-1699) will carry the required books for the DL courses registered at this campus. Also, North Harris Bookstore carries books for all DL courses. Alternatively, books can be purchased online from eFollett. To order, go to www.efollett.com. Follow this link to the online bookstore for Lonestar. Select "Distance LearningAll Campuses." Then select your term, department (HUMA), and course and section number. If you decide to get your books online from anywhere else (e.g. eBay, Amazon), make sure that you will receive them before the start of class.
Library Card
Please make sure that you have an updated library card. The barcode on it will enable you to access the online journal database of the Lonestar library. You will need this for the essay. As a DL student, you can apply for a library card online, then either have it sent to your home or else pick it up at one of the campus libraries. To do this, fill out the form at http://library.nhmccd.edu/get_card.htm. You can also obtain a TexShare Card, which enables you to check out books at participating Texas college and public libraries. For this card, go to http://library.nhmccd.edu/get_texshare_card.htm.
Again, feel free to email me if you need any help.
