The simplified syllabus.
Assignments have a "due date" that works like a credit card - you can turn them in late, but penalties will be applied. You are encouraged to submit a project early. When submitted early, I will review, recommend improvements, and generally help you earn full points. After the due date, I grade it and post the grade. The due dates begin deep into the semester so that we will have time to revise and improve an assignment - do not put them off!
A note about the .NET user groups: There are several to choose from. A group meets at Montgomery College once per month, another in Houston once per month, there are one or more meetings per month via the online community "second life", and (I think) there are meetings via the online community "Reaction Grid". Attendance at two of these through the semester is intended to teach you how to network and make contacts. I have been in this industry since 1978 and these groups are by far the best tools for me to keep current. You must submit a page-ish write up of the meeting to gain credit for it. Papers may be posted online!
You may login after the semester begins at MyOnline.Lonestar.edu.
Finally, I will provide online assistance anytime that I am available. This is via Yahoo and MSN instant messenger. If I need to show you how to fix something, I'll connect to your computer via www.LogMeInRescue.com. You will be told how at that time.
* Visual Studio 2008 is available from Microsoft's DreamSpark program free of charge to bonafide students.
