The Altered Book Page: This photograph depicts the famous Alice from the Wonderland book. Few know that the charecter was a real child known by the author. This page is a parody of the reality and fictional persona. She peers out at us through a parchment window almost frozen in time and space.

Watercolored Collage Cover Bound in German Long Stitch: The inspiration for this book came while I was at Arrowmont in Gatlinburg. The Smokie Mountains and the Trees were alive with color. The materials for the collage are gold leaf and wax paper. It is sometimes interesting to combine two patterns { in this case, leaves and ribbon-like lines } to create an interesting and rythmic effect.

Pompidou Book with a single
signature: This book is a whimsical account of the fountain at the Pompidou
Museum in Paris. The initial page asks: Have you ever seen the Pompidou
Fountain? In French this translates to: Est-ce que vous avez vue la fountaine
de Pompidou? It sounds like a little rhyme. The book covers are lined
with repetitive images of one of the fountain figures. I have rarely made
books with content, having concentrated more on the form and binding.
It is perhaps, the more creative endeavor of the process and links the
visual to the written word. |

Interior Images of the Pompidou Book. These are photographs that I had taken a few years ago. This fountain is quite whimsical and the sculptures whirl and spirt water. The book mark is antique tiny bone dice and venetian glass beads.
