I love the interaction with the students, I love seeing the look in their eyes when they "get it." To see how far they've come from their first intro design classes to their final advanced classes is amazing. For a lot of students, that is only one year, and it's amazing the talent that comes through our program. Knowing I had a part in helping mold that talent is what's awesome.

And it's not just about molding talent, it's about molding lives. What I love about the classes I get to teach is that they allow me to get to really know the students and when a lot of them graduate, they still maintain some sort of contact, keeping me up to date with what's happening in their lives.

I also love the challenge that teaching brings in finding new ways to reach new students every semester. Every semester is different and what worked for one set of students may not work for the following. They definitely keep me on my toes, challenging me to be better at what I do. I have used analogies, videos, multimedia, a suitcase, and even my sons toys to clarify subject matter. Education is a lot like graphic design in that you have to communicate a specific message to a specific audience. And in order to do that, you have to know your audience and what the best tools are to reach them if you want to sell your message.

In brief, teaching is hard work, but it's fun. I love it and wouldn't trade it for any other job...unless being a millionaire is a job, then maybe...I'll have to wait till I get to that point. Tell you what, I'll let you know.
