Theatre History I - Dram 2361
(offered online - fall semester)

Course Description: This course will introduce the student to various elements that compromise theatrical history - both the Western and Eastern traditions from it's beginnings through 1700.  It will also familiarize students with terminology and concepts that are prevalent in theatre.  Elements include plays, theories, the stage, makeup, costuming, acting and directing.

Requirements:

  • Each student will complete nine (9) quizzes covering information from the readings

  • Each student will attend two (2) theatrical productions (one may be an APPROVED movie) and will submit a written evaluation for each production

  • Each student will create and present (online) a production research project of their own choosing

  • Each student will create eight (8) assignments based on readings and notes

  • Each student will participate in twelve (12) class-wide discussions about various topics
